Did some sketching while on a mini spa break, here I used my trusted pocket brush pen again. It was a glorious day lots of sunshine a grand building and lots of lounging ladies!
I went sketching in Central London. The top sketch is my view of Van Gogh's sunflowers, a wall of people and one couple absorbed only in their phones. The bottom sketch is a busker outside of the National Gallery.
When the radio silence fell I had just been accepted onto The Oatley Academy of Visual Storytelling's Painting Drama course. The subsequent time between then and now is that I have now finished Painting Drama. It was tough, it was intense, it took up every free waking hour and it was certainly worth doing!
I am also mid way through the Schoolism Gesture Drawing course which is a ton of fun. I'm hoping when I have completed this one both their powers will combine and I will paint Captain Planet!
Playing around with colour and composition on this one. I changed how she is standing, made her a lot smaller and added some foreground elements to create some depth. I think it works better for it, I also got rid of all the black that the sketch was covered in.
I'm pleased with the colours in this, I painted it all with gradients and a few brush strokes here and there. I'm probably most pleased with how the water turned out and most unsure about the rocks. Here is the link to the original post.
I have been catching up TMNT again! I love it, just finished watching 'Turtles in Time' and and pumped, I'm a huge Mikey fan so after that I just had to draw him... then it turned into a painting. This is the wip so far, I'm painting it digitally and so far have used mainly gradients, its far from finished and I would like to work on brightening it up as I think so far its way too moody for Mikey.
This is my entry for the School of Visual Storytelling's 3rd Thursday Critiques where 5 images will be picked for critique. I could not resist this as the prompt contains some of my favourite things... Space and cuteness! XD
The prompt was this "Astrid cautiously stepped out of the craft onto soft spongy turf. Though she didn't see anything she had a deep sense that she wasn't alone.", I thought a lot about the composition and tried out several comps before deciding on this one, I also concentrated on a clear the space for the text and then tried to implement all the line weight knowledge I have been researching.
Just a quick sketch this week, coloured only with graidents! :D
The Crystal Gems form Steven Universe. I love this show, this and Gravity Falls are some of the best watching on TV at the moment!
I made this piece before joining OA Live. I would really like to do another, I think I would choose a different approach now instead of straight up show style emulation, though it is fun every once in a while!
